Post-Doctoral Fellow

A postdoctoral position for a highly motivated candidate is available in the Ellis Lab within the Department of Translational Neuroscience at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, downtown campus. The lab is located within the innovation quarter/biotech and medical school campus of Wake Forest University on Bailey Park, which houses a highly collaborative, successful research community in a lively historically tobacco-based restored area of downtown Winston Salem.

The Ellis lab is focused on the regulation of lipid metabolism and its effects on health and disease.

The current project in the lab will focus on the regulation of lipid metabolism, mitochondrial metabolism and membrane biology. The postdoc will work on new and novel genetically targeted mouse models. The post-doc may work with experimentation involving metabolism, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, neurobiology, behavior, metabolomics, lipidology, and mitochondrial metabolic assessment. Research findings will be published in high quality journals, along with opportunities to present work at research conferences. The position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent in biochemistry/nutrition/neurobiology or related discipline, and the applicant should be fluent in written and spoken English. Individuals with experience working with mouse models, molecular biology skills, and neuroscience will be prioritized. Salary is consistent with NIH guidelines with annual reappointments for a maximum of 5 years.
