Post-Doctoral Fellow
A postdoctoral position for a highly motivated candidate is available in the Ellis Lab within the East Carolina Diabetes and Obesity Research Institute (ECDOI) at East Carolina University. The lab is located on the medical campus of ECU in the ECDOI research facility, which houses a highly collaborative, successful research community. The Ellis lab is focused on the regulation of lipid metabolism and its effects on health and disease.
The current project in the lab will focus on the regulation of lipid metabolism, mitochondrial metabolism and membrane biology. The postdoc will work on new and novel genetically targeted mouse models. The post-doc will gain research experience in metabolism, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, metabolomics, lipidology, and mitochondrial metabolic assessment. Research findings will be published in high quality journals, along with opportunities to present work at research conferences. The position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent in biochemistry/nutrition or related discipline, and the applicant should be fluent in written and spoken English. Individuals with experience working with mouse models, molecular biology skills, and/or mitochondrial metabolism will be prioritized. Salary is consistent with NIH guidelines with annual reappointments for a maximum of 5 years.

Lab Technician/Lab Manager
Seeking motivated lab technician/manager for the Ellis Lab. The individual will assist with lab projects, both ongoing and developing, and will be expected to work well with others. The work duties associated with the position reflect the general lab operations of the lab. The technician will be trained to independently conduct experiments using multiple techniques commonly used in our research (including work with research mice, molecular biology (genotyping, western blotting, real-time PCR), and histology), perform troubleshooting, and provide training for new personnel. BS in chemistry, biochemistry, or related area, and related research experience required.
